On a clear winter's day when the sun was unseasonably warm, we decided to spend a few hours out on The Georges River in Sydney's south.
The shiny white 40 foot yacht was incredibly inviting, bobbing as the sun danced on the water.
But we got into the 10 foot runabout that we'd hired for 4 hours, zipped up the grubby rental life jackets and pretended we were on a cruiser. Same but different.
The kids had a ball and so did we. We chugged around, did some fishing and watched the countless jelly fish float passed our boat.
We oohed and aahed at the beautiful homes on the river and I had an overwhelming urge to paint. That's pretty normal for me, particularly when I'm out and about in beautiful weather.
So I took photos that I could later use to make paintings.
That day was in August 2015.
I almost always do what I say I'm going to do. Sometimes it just take a while.
Here's a painting of a lovely boathouse we passed. I loved the green door and the palm trees and the way the light caught the front of the building.
