A Book I LOVED

The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert could very well be one of my all-time favourite books.

I began reading with little expectation (I was absolutely not a fan of Eat Pray Love) but was captivated from the first page. The writing is exquisite and the story so compelling, I found myself counting the hours till I could pick it up again.

The book tells the story of Alma Whittaker who, with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, navigates the world of plants and science, human interaction and love. It’s a wonderful insight into life in the 1800s, history and botany and themes still relevant today.

It’s a commitment, The Signature of All Things. It’s a big book with a big story, and a commitment I’m glad I made. (Choose to read this book when you want something meaty. Sometimes we want to read a book that is quick, easy and light. This isn’t that book!)
