A Hunter Valley Sunset is a small version of a scene I have painted a few times now. It's a spot in the Hunter Valley that I visited a few years ago. There's a restaurant on the top of a hill overlooking the valley: this view! We arrived before sunset and had pre-dinner drinks while the sun went down and it was a magical moment. As the natural light faded, the venue was lit by fairy lights. It was perfect.
 
This painting captures the moment just before the sun set, when the sky was the lead role and a blanket of calm serenity lay over the valley.
